4 Great Reasons to Choose a Mixed Breed Dog

Mutts make the best dogs! Many people think a pure bred dog is going to have a certain personality, then they are shocked when the dog doesn’t act exactly as expected. The truth of the matter is that each dog, mixed breed or pedigree, will have it’s own unique personality and character attributes (just like people). There are so many great reasons to choose a mixed breed dog and this article covers 4 of the best reasons we’ve identified.

1. Mutts are more even-tempered. While it is possible for mixed breed dogs to be very energetic or very laid back they tend toward more moderate temperaments. Their behavior is typically more moderate because they were not bred to have specific characteristics. The behaviors required to achieve the tasks that certain dogs were bred for are not necessarily middle-of-the-road behaviors. Extreme personality traits in mixed breed dogs are often products of the dog’s environment and upbringing and are not inborn characteristics as seen in pure bred dogs. Mixed breed dogs also tend to be a little more flexible to change than pure bred dogs. Some suggest they are not as programmed as their pure bred counterparts and therefore adjust more quickly to change.

2. Mutts have good genetic diversity. Because their genes are usually unrelated the chances of both parents of a mixed breed dog carrying the same defective genes are low. Often the worst diseases or health problems in dogs are passed along through the pairing of the same defective genes. Mixed breed dogs are often healthier because when left up to nature dogs tend to be moderately sized with more natural builds. This happens when cross breeding occurs over time because this is how dogs are designed to be. When people begin breeding they tend to go to extremes from a 3 pound Chihuahua to a 150 pound Great Dane. Other breed specific traits like the short snouts of Pugs, the barrel chest of a Bulldog or the large folds of skin of a Sharpei are actually abnormalities that can cause additional health problems over the life of the dog.

3. Millions of mutts are euthanized each year. Mixed breed dogs are often abandoned or neglected for their pure bred counterparts because they are not perceived as valuable by some. They are often passed over for adoption and end up in the gas chamber simply because they do not appear as fashionable or trendy as the expensive, pure bred, trend dog of the moment.

4.Mixed breed dogs are less expensive. The average price of a pure bred dog is around $ 800 if you agree to spay or neuter him and around $ 1,500 if you do not. While many people are more than willing to pay a significant sum of money for their ideal dog, it is completely unnecessary. Mixed breed dogs can be adopted for free from a neighbor or for around $ 150 from a rescue organization. The adoption fee from a rescue group is nominal and goes towards Veterinary care expenses. Dogs adopted from reputable groups come with all of their shots and are spayed or neutered and ready to go.

Three Reasons Why Baby Squirrels Die in Captivity

Adopt A Puppy – Three Reasons Why Baby Squirrels Die in Captivity

The content is good quality and helpful content, That is new is that you just never knew before that I do know is that I have discovered. Prior to the unique. It is now near to enter destination Three Reasons Why Baby Squirrels Die in Captivity. And the content associated with Adopt A Puppy.

Do you know about – Three Reasons Why Baby Squirrels Die in Captivity

Adopt A Puppy! Again, for I know. Ready to share new things that are useful. You and your friends.

Did you ever take in a baby squirrel and start to feed and care for it, then have it go downhill physically and die? You’re not alone! The following are three coarse reasons why baby squirrels die in captivity:

What I said. It is not outcome that the real about Adopt A Puppy. You look at this article for facts about that need to know is Adopt A Puppy.

How is Three Reasons Why Baby Squirrels Die in Captivity

We had a good read. For the benefit of yourself. Be sure to read to the end. I want you to get good knowledge from Adopt A Puppy.

1. The Wrong Diet.

Improper diet is the number one hypothesize why squirrels die. There’s a lot of controversy over what is the spoton method to feed baby squirrels who are still nursing. Many wild animal rehabilitators will tell you to buy an expensive puppy formula, and to never feed a squirrel cow’s milk. I’ve used the expensive puppy method with marginal success, but recently they changed the formulation which left it lacking enough milk fat for squirrels. Now, all of a sudden, they’re telling habitancy to add heavy cream to boost the fat content! Hello! What is heavy cream? It’s the cream from cow’s milk! The hypothesize cow’s milk will kill a baby squirrel is because there are substances in the milk that will give a squirrel severe diarrhea. Diarrhea will lead to an electrolyte imbalance, which will lead to a heart irregularity and finally death from sudden cardiac arrest.

I’ve found that if you get rid of the substance in cow’s milk and cream that causes diarrhea, a baby squirrel will do just fine on a cream rich cows milk formula. But you must do one uncomplicated but vital thing to make this method safe for squirrels! I can teach you how to make this method and save you having to spend twenty dollars per can for puppy formula!

2. Hypocalcemia.

The second big killer of squirrels is Hypocalcemia. That’s a fancy name for low blood Calcium. Squirrels, especially in captivity, have an extraordinarily high calcium requirement. Death from low blood calcium comes after they stop nursing. While they are getting milk, their calcium needs are being met. When they quit nursing, they need a calcium supplement or they’ll produce what is called Metabolic Bone Disease. This disease is characterized by loss of calcium from the bones, especially in the spine and back legs. They start to shuffle their back legs when they walk, and progressively lose nerve and muscle control. Their bones come to be fragile and break easily.

Low blood calcium can also lead to heart irregularity and sudden cardiac death. A squirrel with metabolic Bone Disease is a pathetic scene! stoppage is simple! I teach a very uncomplicated way to make a dietary supplement called Nut Squares or Nut Balls that will insure optimum calcium intake and good condition for squirrels.

3. Internal Injuries.

The last major killer of baby squirrels is internal injuries. Many times a found squirrel has fallen a great distance out of a leaf nest. One of the first things you should do for a baby squirrel, after you get it in a warm environment, is to check it over determined for injuries. Babies normally have rapid respiration and heartbeats, but if a baby squirrel is having difficulty breathing or is using more than just chest muscles to breathe, it may have internal injuries. It could have broken ribs or a contused lung or heart! Blunt trauma to the abdomen can injure internal organs such as the liver, kidneys or spleen. A baby squirrel’s abdominal wall is very thin. If you see dark purple discoloration of the abdomen, that is an ominous sign that indicates internal bleeding.

There’s not a whole lot that can be done for a baby squirrel that is in that condition. A Veterinarian could value the animal, but chances are, nothing would be done other than gawk and keep it’s breathing struggle with oxygen and a warm environment until it passes. I’ve found in my years as a Squirrel Rehabilitator that squirrels love to have their head and neck gradually rubbed, it’s very soothing and calming for them. Death is a part of life. For me, keeping and comforting a dying squirrel helps me realize how precious and brief life is. I find colossal joy and satisfaction in caring for these magnificent creatures, and thank God that even in death, I can make a difference!

PLEASE consider animal adoption- above all- breeders, pet stores, etc. Besides, why would you want to PAY someone for your best friend? Why would you want to BUY a dog or cat? How about pay an adoption fee and ADOPT! Remember, every animal you adopt is “one less” that will get euthanized. Please support your local no-kill shelters. This, in turn, will enable them to rescue more animals from kill shelters in your area, but you AREN’T paying the kill shelters, who use a lot of the money for euthanasia. Instead, you are helping to lighten the kill shelters load. Inadvertantly, you can actually save more animals by rescuing from a no-kill than a kill. These animals need you. And PLEASE spay and neuter your pets. The music is under a Creative Commons License and is owned by Kevin MacLeod. You may download this video here.
