Australian Labradoodle Association of America

The Australian Labradoodle Association of America (ALAA) protects the welfare of the Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle breeds. The organization promotes responsible dog companionship by cataloguing helpful information about the breeds and by offering networking services to breeders and owners.

As a leader in this effort, we are working to make a difference. 

The ALAA manages the largest database of Labradoodles and Australian Labradoodles in the world, with vital statistics for nearly 20,000 dogs and ancestral information for more than 25,000 dogs. Our membership grows daily, and we invite you to join us as we help to write the history of these incredible breeds.      

It brings the ALAA great pride that our hard work, dedication and commitment to Health Testing brings recognition to the Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle as a breed! Never in the history of dog breed development has such an honor been bestowed on breed club.

The OFA Board of Directors has approved a separate breed code for Labradoodles (LD).  If the dog is registered with the ALAA, OFA forms may be submitted with the ALAA registration # and the breed code of “LD”, to be registered in the OFA category of “Labradoodle” instead of in the “Hybrid” category.  If an application is received without a registration number, it will be processed in the Hybrid category.  According to Eddie Dziuk of the OFA:

“The club registration criteria for registering dogs as Labradoodles is a response to the commitment to health demonstrated by the club not only in its strong code of ethics requiring health screening, but also in response to the club members’ demonstrated use of OFA evaluations.”

Additionally, OptiGen has also agreed to give Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle their own categories.  ALAA Members may notify Optigen of dogs already tested, their test numbers, and which category they should be in and those dogs will be transferred into the new category.
