Senior Pets Need Great Homes Too!

If you’re considering the addition of a new furry family member- canine or feline- have you taken time to consider adopting a senior pet? There are countless benefits to adopting senior pets (those 9+ years of age)! Indoor felines live an average of 14-16 years— with many living into their 20′s. Canines can have wonderful, long lives too. Many rescue organizations- like Advocates 4 Animals Rescue & Rehabilitation- offer “Seniors to Seniors” adoption programs. This type of adoption program offers Senior Humans- the adoption of Senior Pets at little or no adoption fee- and they help you make the “right” match for both you/your home and for the adoptable senior pet. It’s a win/win situation for all!
If you or someone you know may be considering adoption of a new furry family member now or in the future- be sure to research the many benefits of senior pet adoption- or talk to your local rescue groups to learn more!

A4A Rescue Executive Director & Co-Founder, Stacey Ritz, spends time with Helen- an adult blind feline rescued in the “Miraculous 8″ Rescue in early June. Ritz foster’s Helen in her personal residence and says she is head over heels for this lucky feline! “Helen is making huge progress. Because of her severe eye infections (that plagued her for years prior to her rescue at A4A)- she has lost all sight in both eyes. She hardly had any hair when she arrived at A4A– and already most of it has grown back- thanks to the great raw and organic nutrition she is receiving on a daily basis. Helen is in the process of learning how to walk up and down steps…but she is determined to make it happen! She lives life to the fullest each day- and she is a bundle of love and joy.”
A4A is currently working with one of our trusted veterinarians to help Helen overcome her chronic URI. In a month (or maybe a few)- once Helen gains full health, Helen will have the necessary eye surgery on both eyes. A4A is currently in the process of saving up funds to afford her eye surgeries. Thank you to all of our supporters for your continued donations and support. Helen is so appreciative for your love and kindness!
We will keep you posted…Stay tuned!

Many of our A4A volunteer foster homes have or are switching to even better nutrition options for our felines and canines! We are excited and proud of this new change and wanted to share with you the wonderful food choices we are making for the rescue/adoptable pets here at A4A. We have a mixed diet of high-quality, organic, human-grade dry food for all cats and dogs- and we do this in combination with (moist) Raw Advantage foods daily. The cats and dogs are head over tails for the food- even our most picky of eaters- they LOVE the new food choices now that the transition has been/is being completed. To learn more about Raw Advantage foods/options, please visit their website: www.rawadvantagepetfood.com We HIGHLY recommend them- not only for their high-quality pet food products, but also for their superior customer service and their friendly staff.
